Great, amazing and wonderful things are hidden in plain sight, right in front of my widely open eyes; God’s blessings which I take for granted and never remember to say, ‘Thank You Papa’;
I look, but don’t see the good friends, family, colleagues and neighbours who’ve always had my back and added days into my life. For these angels, I thank You God.
I see, but don’t appreciate the wonderful nature that surrounds me; the green trees, the beautiful blooming flowers, the singing birds, the blue skies, the dark nights, the glowing stars, the moon, the sun, the lakes, the oceans, the mountains. For these great sceneries, I thank You Daddy.
I look, but don’t see that the babies grew into young adults, left the crib, and became honest, reliable and responsible citizens.
I listen, but don’t hear the babies cry; what I hear are the cries of those who were recently babies formerly demanding for a better world where every opportunity counts. For this transformation from my babies into young adults, I thank You Lord.
I witness the young adults fall in love; most often talking without speaking; and liking without wanting to be parents yet; shelving motherhood and fatherhood for a later day; but then the day comes and I quickly graduate into a grandparent. Thank You God for the smooth transition.
I look, without seeing my achievements and that He has kept me interested in my humble career; despite the enormous physical, emotional, spiritual and mental challenges. Thank You Lord for Your mercies on me.
It’s sad how we get so caught up in our strife for self-fulfillment, and in our daily orgasmic endeavors as we chase the wind;
so much so that we never, ever, stop, look back, look around, and say to ourselves, “Wow, how did I even get here?”
Thank You God,
for everything”.
