The sun rises magnificently in Africa
from a darkness that is
never devoid of exciting and thrilling
life and activity.
The glorious morning winds
sweep across the rich continent.
Africa is radiant because,
in defiance of the encumbrances,
it is blessed with infinite beauty, allure
and abundance of flora and fauna.
Africa is happy because,
in spite of the barriers,
its 60% arable land produces
the most exquisite coffee, tea, cocoa,
coconut, rubber tree, cotton,
sugar cane, pineapple, mango,
papaya, cashew, fruits,
vegetables and other crops.
Africa is buoyant because,
regardless of the impediments,
it produces superb timber
like mahogany and teak;
and over 30,000 recipes
for medicines and herbs.
Africa is contented because,
against the handicaps,
it offers safe haven
to its diverse and splendid livestock,
wildlife; and the vast marine resources
in it’s lakes, and along the fish-rich coastline;
all of which offer indescribable experience,
sensation and adventure.
Africa is beaming because,
undeterred by the obstacles,
it possesses awesome waterfalls,
majestic mountains, and rivers
that run into the most beautiful beaches.
Africa is glowing because
its 30.4 million square kilometres of land
is golden, literally a true paradise
for the 1.37 billion charming inhabitant souls;
who have a rich cultural diversity
in terms of dance, food, music, architecture,
sculpture, dress, and so on.
The sun embraces Africa’s
attractive treasures and raw-material reserves
that include gold, diamond, and coltan,
cobalt, bauxite, and zinc,
chrome ore, copper, and platinum,
aluminite, oil, and natural gases,
manganese, iron ore and coal,
phosphates, potassium, and salt,
lead, granite and asbestos,
nickel, tanzanite, and uranium.
And so, Africa is ecstatic,
at peace with itself,
despite being plundered, raped
and being left desolate,
by outsiders, assisted by their insider sellouts.
Africa, the mother, or cradle of humanity
smiles on even when it’s children
have been scattered all over the world,
are dehumanized and cry, “I can’t breathe”.
Africa is blissful because,
the setbacks notwithstanding,
it is beautiful as the sun goes down
to give way to another
glamorous African night,
awesomely lit by the chandelier
of the moon and stars.
Africa will smile on because,
even with the hardships,
it knows that
God is present everywhere
but He resides in Africa.
