The Amazing Work Of God’s Fingers

Categories Meditation, Nature, Religion

My awed mind stares at the sun
as it straddles the heavens,
as it moves across the skies
from end to end,
as radiant as a bride on her wedding day,
and nothing can hide from its heat.

My soul breathes the whispering wind
as I marvel at the composure
of the stars and the moon;
which without a sound,
silent in the skies,
communicate across the world,
loud and clear.

My eyes adoringly gaze across the mountains;
in reverence, I observe the sparkling waters,
the creatures that adorn the land, sky, and sea;
in wonder, I embrace the calf, the lamb,
the eagle, the butterfly, the forests,
the gazelle, the lion… the shrubs,
the flowers and other creations,
that, like me, roam this earth.

My spirit thrills to hear the sounds of nature:
where bees hum and leaves rustle,
hyenas laugh and rhinos bellow,
apes gibber while elephants trumpet;
and crickets chirp, creak, and join in
the soul-refreshing melodies of bird songs.

My heart overflows with sweet submission
when I see the earth’s majesty,
the marvelous display of God’s craftsmanship,
from the wild and free to the gentle and warm,
from the highlands to the sea,
they all tell of the glory of God;
the work of God’s fingers.

I am an epic introvert, who quickly becomes an open book when I pen what’s in my significantly fertile mind; fertile as a result of bombardment by realities that are continuously captured by my inquisitive eyes, ears which are constantly rubbing the ground, through constant reading, and through dreaming too.

Writing provides an opportunity to ‘say’ what my unapologetic quiet mouth will not say; which not only soothes me, but also bequeaths to me a relief, a release, and a hope that the written words will change the world, even if only one person at a time.

And so should you seek, that’s where to find me; deeply tucked inside the blankets of reading, seeing, listening, dreaming, and then writing.
